At Bhylls Acre, we pride ourselves on creating a happy, productive and above all a safe and secure environment in which all children can thrive. We want our children to be happy, self-confident and motivated to achieve their full potential. Our school has a nurturing, family ethos and as such, we treat every child as if they were our own. 

 

We firmly believe that the key to successful learning is by building a strong partnership between home and school. We actively encourage parents to be part of and to support their child’s learning and have many opportunities for parents to come into school to see their children at work and at play.

 

Safeguarding is woven into our curriculum through PSHE lessons, Computing and IT, assemblies and through special events and external visitors.  

 

A variety of programmes of work are used in school to teach children how to keep safe and show positive and practical ways of dealing with potentially dangerous situations and cover the following areas:

• Road Safety

• Rail Safety

• Water Safety

• Personal Safety

• When and how to say ‘NO’

• Internet Safety – CEOP - Think you know

On entering school your child is met at the door by a member of staff and they are fully supervised throughout the day. When your child is in school, the first point of contact is the class teacher. Your child’s teacher can be seen at the end of the school day or at a mutually convenient time arranged through the school office.

 

The Designated Safeguarding Lead at Bhylls Acre is Mr Matt Cross.  In her absence any information should be passed on to the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads, Mrs Indie Upstone or Mr Oliver Mulloy. Our Safeguarding

Governor is Mr Patrick Flynn.

 

Every other member of staff in school including teachers, teaching assistants, lunch time supervisors, site team, governors and the office staff have achieved Level 1 Safeguarding Training as a minimum.

Online Safety

 

At Bhylls Acre we are committed to developing lifelong, independent learners who use technology as a tool for learning and personal development. In school children are taught through discrete computing lessons and across the creative curriculum about how they can stay safe online, recognising any potential dangers and how to report these.

 

We take the safeguarding and personal wellbeing of our children extremely seriously. Therefore, our school network is continually monitored by Mr Cross who receives daily and weekly reports about the online and offline use of technology at Bhylls Acre. In order to monitor network activity closely, every child has their own unique username and password to access their network user profile.
